All speakers MUST complete a registration form before Friday 12 May 2017. Your invitation letter will determine which registration link you qualify to use. For those who are being offered complimentary registration please register on the link below with the relevant password. We encourage speakers to register prior to the early bird registration rate to qualify for the discounted rate.
All fees are quoted in Australian dollars and are inclusive of 10% Goods and Service Tax (GST).

Speakers will be freely able to contribute to and enjoy the scientific and technical programs of all of nine partner meetings at no extra cost. For planning purposes please ensure you register in the Conference where you will spend most of your time.

Please email a publication-standard quality colour head and chest photo of yourself (300dpi) and a short 500 word biographical statement. These will be used for publication and marketing purposes including the website.
All visitors should apply for a visa at least two months prior to their intended date of departure, and four months prior for people with character or health concerns. The Congress Secretariat holds no responsibility for visa applications.
Failure to obtain the appropriate visa to travel to Australia does not constitute a refund. No refunds will be made after 9 June 2017 due to failure to secure a visa to Australia. The Congress Secretariat must be advised in writing of any alterations or transfers.
Below we have provided some general information to assist you in planning for your time in Melbourne. If there is anything you need to know before you travel, please do not hesitate to contact the RACI 2017 Congress secretariat – we are here to help.
Decimal currency is used in Australia - units are dollars and cents. All major credit cards are widely accepted in Australia. Visit www.xe.com for current exchange rates.
Normal banking hours are Monday to Thursday 9:30am-4:00pm and Fridays 9:30am-5:00pm, excluding public holidays. 24 Hour Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) can be found throughout the City and Shopping Centres.
There are four major banks in Australia which offer a full range of banking services including currency conversions and sales of traveller’s cheques including Commonwealth Bank, Westpac Bank, ANZ Bank and the National Bank.
220-240V is standard in Australia
There will be wi-fi access for all delegates at the Congress venue. Internet access is also widely available to visitors in many hotels and cafés in the city.
English is spoken throughout Australia and is the official language for the Convention. Simultaneous translation is available at participant’s own expense.
Australia operates on a digital network.
Public Transport: Free Tram Zone
The Free Tram Zone in Melbourne's CBD makes it easier for commuters and tourists to move around the city. The principal boundaries of the Free Tram Zone are Spring Street, Flinders Street and La Trobe Street. Additionally, the tram routes along Victoria Street, William Street and Elizabeth Street that surround Victoria Market are also included as well as the Docklands area.
All stops within the zone are clearly marked and tram drivers will make regular announcements when approaching the zone boundaries. Zone boundaries are signed and free tram zone maps are across the network. If your tram journey is exclusively within the zone, travel is free, meaning you do not need to touch on with a myki. If your journey begins or ends outside of the zone you must touch on with a valid myki when boarding the tram.

A Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10% applies to all consumer goods and is included in retail prices. All fees are quoted in Australian Dollars and are subject to GST. In some cases the GST is able to be claimed back on exiting the country. Full details can be found here
Service charges are not added to accounts by hotels and restaurants. You may tip taxi drivers, hotel porters and restaurant wait-staff (up to 10% of the bill) if you wish to acknowledge exceptional service. At all times, tipping is your choice.
Transport from the Airport
SkyBus is an express bus service from Melbourne airport to Southern Cross Station in the city centre. This service operates 24/7, including all public holidays and takes approximately 20 - 30 minutes. Buses run from every 10 minutes throughout the day. $19 Adult - one way - return $38. Tickets can be purchased on arrival at the airport terminal bus stop or purchased online at www.skybus.com.au.
On arrival at Southern Cross Station in the city, SkyBus provides a complimentary hotel transfer service, subject to availability, during the following hours: 0600-2230 Monday to Friday; 0730-1730 Saturday and Sunday.
There is an abundance of taxis that can be engaged at ranks at Melbourne Airport. The taxi ride from the airport to the Melbourne CBD can take between 30-45 minutes and may cost about $50 - $70 depending upon the time of day.
The Convention does not provide any transfers from the airport to Convention Hotels. All delegates must make their own transport arrangements from the airport.
Travel and Insurance
The Convention does not provide insurance to delegates. We strongly recommend that you take out insurance policies to cover medical and travel expenses. If necessary, consult your travel agent.
Oral Presentation Guidelines
- As a courtesy to other speakers in your session and to ensure the program runs to time, please keep your presentation to your allocated time. Your session chair will provide time alerts and direct the questions.
- Speakers are requested to report to the speaker preparation room at least 3 hours before their scheduled presentation with their presentation on a USB to allow sufficient time to upload and check their audiovisual presentations with the technician.
- Please note that the preferred screen ratio for PowerPoint presentations is 16:9
- Please go to your allocated room 15 minutes before the session start time to meet with the Session Chair and familiarise yourself with the room and AV.

Posters Presentation Guidelines
Posters shouldbe no larger than portrait A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm). All posters must be in English.
Your poster should include a title banner, listing the presentation title, and the authors’ names and their organisation(s) including a headshot so delegates may identify you. Text in the poster should be brief and clear and concise. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation.
Handouts of your poster presentation are permissible.
To ensure your poster has maximum impact, please consider the following formatting suggestions:
- poster titles should be a minimum size of 45 pt
- headings should be a minimum size of 30 pt
- text should be a minimum size of 20 pt (readable from a distance of 2 metres)
- avoid making the text all capitals as this makes it harder for the audience to read
- avoid using a mixture of font styles
- a matt finish on photographs reduces glare and provides better visibility
- results should be displayed graphically, if possible, through the use of pictures, symbols and colour
- figure legends are essential; however, these should be clear and concise.

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is superbly located on the banks of Melbourne's Yarra River, close to the heart of the CBD and just 30 minutes from Melbourne's International Airport. How do I get to the venue
Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre has a designated tram stop located within an easy two -minute walk of the Congress sessions.
Catch any of the following trams and get off at the stop opposite the Clarendon Street entrance of MCEC:
- Route 96 - St Kilda to East Brunswick
- Route 109 - Port Melbourne to Box Hill
- Route 12 - Victoria Gardens to St Kilda
Alternatively catch tram number 48 or 70 and get off at the Flinders Street stop. Then take a short walk towards the Yarra River, across the Seafarers Bridge. For further tram timetable information and trip planning, visit https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/.
Bus route 237 operates from Queen Victoria Market, via Southern Cross Station to Lorimer Street South Wharf from Monday to Friday. Lormier Street is approximately a five-minute walk to MCEC
There is also a coach pick up/drop off point at Bay 1, Convention Centre Place (closest to DFO South Wharf).
Take any train that goes to Southern Cross Station. Get off at Southern Cross Station and catch tram number 96, 109 or 12 as above.

What audio visual facilities are provided?

How do I present my presentation?
Your presentation should be saved as a Microsoft Office PowerPoint file. 2010 or newer versions are preferred, however 97-2003 versions will also be accepted.
The slide ratio for your presentation should also be set to 16:9
Do I need to send a copy of my presentation prior to the Congress?
No, please take a copy of the presentation on USB to the Congress and visit the Speakers’ Preparation Room at least 3 hours prior to your talk. The technicians available will then load your presentation accordingly. If you are speaking first up in the morning, you can load your presentation with the speaker’s presentation room when you arrive onsite for the day.
How long is my presentation
